As one of the founders of Scred Connexion, Fabe came under stark criticism during the French Riots, due to his witty and thought provoking lyrics.

In the early 2000s, just after the release of his album *La rage de dire*, he embraced Islam and decided to withdraw from the music world. After dedicating several years to studying the Quran, he stated in a blog post that he had no desire whatsoever to return to the French rap scene. Following a 10-year media silence, he confirmed in a written interview—given in 2013—that he was married, a father, and a student of Islamic studies.
