Sanjugen (30-strings Koto) is a kind of So or Koto (a long Japanese zither with 30 strings).

It is created in 1955 by Shuretsu MIYASHITA the first, a So player and composer, and improved by Shin MIYASHITA, his son.

The Japanese Koto is a traditional musical instrument originating from the Chinese Guzheng. Since the 8th century, it has evolved into a unique tradition in Japan. Historically, it was a favored form of entertainment in the imperial courts and remained a popular motif in traditional Japanese ukiyo-e prints.
